Corpus Christi Catholic Church & Priory

Welcome to Corpus Christi Catholic Church & Priory - TynongThe parish began more than 20 years ago with humble beginnings using for our church the former Victorian Farmshed. This had been purchased by the Society of St Pius X. Our community prior to this had originally been travelling to a Traditional Latin Mass in Hampton. The congregation grew quickly with the establishment of St Thomas Aquinas College at Tynong. Many people who enrolled their children at the College lived from Berwick to Somerville to Warragul. Mass was said for these people at Nar Nar Goon, then the Bunyip Hall before the Tynong property was ready for Mass. Our plan is through photos to document the transformation of what is our beautiful church today. We are truly blessed.Mass held on:Sunday: 8:00 am + 10:00 amWeekdays: Monday - Friday 7:15 am; Extra Mass on Thursday 6:15pmSaturday 8:00 am + 11:00 am

St Joseph's Catholic Church Iona

St Joseph’s Parish, Iona was established by the late Archbishop Carr, Archbishop of Melbourne, in 1905. It then covered the area from Nar Nar Goon North to Tonimbuk in the North and Koo Wee Rup to Lang Lang in the south. The Penal Settlement on French Island was also included. This Penal Settlement was later transferred to the Dalyston (now Cowes) parish. Prior to that this whole area belonged to St John’s Parish, Dandenong. The first Parish Priest was Fr J Byrne. Then there were churches in Iona, Nar Nar Goon and Koo Wee Rup. The first Assistant Priest, Fr Goldsprink, was appointed in 1909. In 1946 the Koo Wee Rup – Lang area was cut off from the Iona Parish to become St John the Baptist Parish, Koo Wee Rup.
